Nicolás López, nacido en Perú hace 35 años, es uno de esos pintores que sólo se encuentran de vez en cuando y no te deja indiferente. Pinta como si su vida dependiera de ello, como si no hubiera un mañana. En realidad este es su oxígeno para respirar y expresar lo que tiene dentro. Nicolás te lleva de la mano por el camino del agua, en diálogo permanente con él. Nicolás es un pintor que rompe la mayoría de las reglas, sin proponérselo. Su espíritu libre obedece a las leyes de la naturaleza y en última instancia al agua, que es el verdadero protagonista. En lugar de tratar de controlarlo o manipularlo.
“Es fundamental conocer la técnica, los materiales, el papel, pero esencialmente el agua. Cómo se comporta y su carácter. Después de explorar varias técnicas, tuve esta conexión especial con la acuarela porque puedo sentir un espíritu poético con lo que el agua representa para mí. Creo que nunca dejaré de ser cuestionado por ella”
Nicolás López, born in Peru 35 years ago, is one of those painters you only meet once in a while and doesn’t leave you indifferent. He paints as if his life depended of it, as if there was no tomorrow. Actually this is his oxygen to breath and express what he has inside. Nicolas takes you by the hand along the path of the water, in permanent dialogue with him. Nicolas is a painter who breaks most rules, without aiming to do so. His free spirit obeys the laws of nature and ultimately to the water, which is the real main character. Instead of trying to control or manipulate it.
“It’s fundamental to know the technique, the materials, the paper, but essentially the water. How it behaves and its character. After exploring several techniques, I had this special connection with watercolor because I can feel a poetical spirit with what water represents to me. I believe that I will never cease to be questioned by it”
