David Taylor is known for working freely on location and his love of spontaneity, shape, light and colour. He’s an outstanding painter, but there’s more than that: David Taylor is one of the best watercolour teachers of the world.
Not only has he been teaching his great love of watercolour to painters all around the world for many years, he‘s even been elected as an International Judge for several watercolour panels in different countries.
Born in Melbourne in 1941, David was educated at the Caulfield Institute of Technology and the Melbourne School of Printing and Graphic Arts.
David was the first winner (1979) of the Camberwell Rotary Overseas Travel Grant that enabled him to further his studies and expand his experience in London, Europe and North America.
His numerous achievements include over 100 awards in watercolour, including the Distinguished Leadership Award for outstanding services to Watercolour and teaching from the International Directory of Distinguished Leadership and a certificate of merit for distinguished service to the community.
Painting has been my life and it has rewarded me in so many ways therefore I must pass on some of my experiences and share the rewards with others. So many have been encouraged and moved on in their career as a result.
Recognized worldwide for his painting and teaching, David Taylor’s work is regularly exhibited in Australia, England, the Channel Islands and Stockholm. He has held regular one-man exhibitions of his work since 1975. In each exhibition he expresses his love of working freely on location and his love of spontaneity, shape, light and colour.
I like giving back what I have successfully earned throughout my career. There is a balance. It is sad if one has a passion not to share it. The world of watercolor is alive and well and has a wonderful global following gained by sharing the love and knowledge of this beautiful medium. Enjoy!
