Creative watercolour workshop in our new Girona studio, Spain

Nicolás López, born in Peru 35 years ago, is one of those painters you only meet once in a while and doesn’t leave you indifferent. He paints as if his life depended of it, as if there was no tomorrow. Actually this is his oxygen to breath and express what he has inside. Nicolas takes you by the hand along the path of the water, in permanent dialogue with him. Nicolas is a painter who breaks most rules, without aiming to do so. His free spirit obeys the laws of nature and ultimately to the water, which is the real main character. Instead of trying to control or manipulate it.

“It’s fundamental to know the technique, the materials, the paper, but essentially the water. How it behaves and its character. After exploring several techniques, I had this special connection with watercolor because I can feel a poetical spirit with what water represents to me. I believe that I will never cease to be questioned by it”

We will be based in our new Girona studio, it’s a non residential course but we will provide suggestions for accommodation. For Nicolas WATER IS THE MASTER, so nothing can is better than to paint by the water. We will become water ourselves in a way, going through all its possibilities. We are 75% of water so researching the water is also exploring our inner self. But also we’re made of matter.
