Thomas W. Schaller
8 – 14 June, Fine Art in Watercolour. Roses, Costa Brava. All levels. He has long been considered one of the foremost architectural artists in the world. His strengths as a teacher are to emphasize composition over technique or medium, and light and atmosphere over specific subject matter. Painting venue by the sea in the Bay of Roses, near Figueras and Cadaqués. Excursions to paint in Cadaqués and Castelló d’Empúries included.

15 – 21 June, Atmospheric Watercolours, Roses, Costa Brava. Portrait, Figure, Landscape. Intermediate/advanced level. Studio work: live portrait and figure study, body structure and positions. Landscape: ancient buildings as background, combined with modern ballet vocabulary, showing the concept through time and space. Chinese painter internationally famous for his ballet dancers, translator included. Painting excursions to Cadaqués and Castelló d’Empúries included.

2 – 8 September, Light and Atmosphere in Watercolor, Roses Bay. All levels. Janine is the director of The Art of Watercolor magazine. More than reproducing reality she prefers to take a subject, however ordinary, and try to paint what she feels about it as opposed to concentrating only it’s physical form. Great paintings do not require great subjects, they are the result of intelligent subject treatment. By the sea in a big studio with lovely sea views, combining studio work with plein air painting. Painting excursion to Cadaqués included.
Alvaro Castagnet
9 – 16 September, Passionate Watercolours, Cape of Creus area. Intermediate/advanced level. Landscape, interiors. Two painting excursions to Cadaques and Besalú included. Impressionistic approach to watercolour, he paints cityscapes, landscapes, interiors, night scenes painting losely with broad brushstrokes. You’ll learn charcoal sketches for value paintings and abstractions.

20 – 26 September, Looking For The Light In Watercolor, Girona. Intermediate/advanced level. The medieval city walls of Girona enclose the old city centre with narrow streets, restaurants, shops, churches, the prominent cathedral and a never ending range of cafés where the locals spend the afternoon, all the way downhill until the river Onyar. Two painting excursions included to Cadaqués and Calella de Palafrugell.
